The basic eligibility criteria for enrolling in ITI courses have been developed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The following criteria are developed in collaboration with the state governments and the administration of the Union Territories:
Educational background:
The minimum educational requirement for various courses ranges from class VIII to class XII.
Age Restrictions:
- The course requires a minimum age of 14 years.
- The examination has no upper age limit.
- The maximum age for widows or women divorced from their husbands is 35 years.
- Ex-servicemen and widows of servicemen killed in action are eligible for a 5-year reduction in the upper age limit.
